Kara, you sent me this quiz, which I agree we should discuss. You’re super busy with grad school applications right now, so I will post it here and you can tell me what you think about it later.
I’m kind of stumped by this. On one hand, it makes me kind of crazy, this reductive guys-who-want-to-have-sex-with-women-are-always-tools-of-the-patriarchy attitude, especially coming from a gay male feminist who doesn’t have any investment in the (admittedly sometimes gross) heterosexual dynamic.
On the other, I totally remember reading about this stuff in high school in the early 90s and feeling so vindicated. Like, when the science teacher sat the busty girls in the front row, it felt super creepy and wrong and yet no one said anything about it or acknowledged it and then you’d read some fanzine and be like, no, fuck that guy. So I think there’s something to be said for talking like this about sex dynamics, even if it’s also really unfair to the many, many guys who don’t think like this.
