“Tit for Pussy Tat”

Kara, I really like this writer Lisa De Moraes and I just stumbled upon this press conference report of hers and it cracked me up. She quotes the Pussycat Dolls’ producer ¬†as saying: “Women celebrating one another being beautiful and, frankly, being appreciated by men, has been around for a long time. Under no circumstances is it shameful. And there’s even a position to take (that) this is, frankly, third-wave feminism.” And everyone in the room eruptsinto laughter and boos. I also love the photo and title of this article. Everything about it is ironic and ridiculous and stupid and fantastic.

  1. AMAZING. confession time: when i used to hear “don’t cha” at step class (thats right, even my exercise is retro) it used to seriously stress me out. i could not deal with its unsisterliness. (though, in the end, there is actually a sisterly impetus…oh no, i am thinking too much about this…) however: i came up with this whole rationale about the song as fantasy. one thing third wave feminists are really good at–besides, of course, celebrating one another being beautiful and being appreciated by men–is recuperating sexist pop music. a good skill!–k
